Objectives of NAPS Scheme
The main objective of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is to promote apprenticeship training across the country. Through this, various benefits will be provided to the employers, at present the engagement of trainees is around 2.3 lakhs. Benefits and Features of NAPS Scheme
- Apprenticeship training will be promoted by the government by sharing the cost of training with employers through the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme 2024 launched by the central government.
- Modular Employable Skills under Skill Development Initiative, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and other courses approved by State Governments and Central Governments will also be covered under this scheme.

Eligibility for National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme
For Employers
- To get the benefit of this scheme, it is mandatory for the employers to have a TIN/TAN number.
- It is necessary for all the employees to register on the Apprenticeship Portal.
- It is also necessary for the applicant to have a bank account linked to Aadhaar.
- PFO/ESIC/Factory/Cooperative/MSME registration number should also be with all the employers.
- Under this, employers are required to engage apprentices in the band of 2.5% to 10% of the total strength of the establishment.
For Apprentices
- Trainees must have registered on the official portal.
- Apart from this, all the trainees should have an Aadhaar number.
- It is mandatory to have the prescribed minimum age, educational qualification and physical fitness for the trade.
- All the requirements of the Apprentice Act should be fulfilled by the apprentices only then they will be eligible to get its benefits.
- The age of 14 years has been completed by the apprentice.
For Basic Training Providers
- It is mandatory to have an Aadhaar linked bank account.
- Basic training providers should be physically verified by them through RDAT.
