TN Urban Employment Scheme has been started by the Tamil Nadu State Government, through which livelihood and social security will be provided to the citizens by creating employment opportunities in the state. Benefits and Features of TN Urban Employment Scheme
- Tamil Nadu Urban Employment Scheme has been started by the Tamil Nadu State Government, through which employment opportunities will be provided to the citizens of the state.
- Through this scheme, such citizens of the state will be benefited, who have lost their employment and savings in the lockdown due to the Corona epidemic.
- Under this scheme, the citizens of the state will be made self-reliant and empowered by generating employment opportunities.
- With the help of this scheme of the state government, citizens will be provided livelihood and social security through construction and maintenance of public property.
- This scheme has been started for the year 2021-22 on a pilot basis in two zones of Greater Chennai Corporation, 1 zone each in 14 municipal corporations, 1 municipality in 7 zones and 1 panchayat in 37 districts.
- A total budget of Rs 100 crore has been allocated by the state government for the smooth implementation of TN Urban Employment Scheme.
- Unskilled and semi-skilled citizens of the state will be benefited through this scheme.
- Under this scheme, both men and women will be given equal pay for equal work.
- Along with this, the state government has earmarked 50% of the total person days for women under this scheme.
- The smooth operation of this scheme is done by a committee headed by former RBI Governor C Rangarajan.

To get the benefits under any government scheme, candidates are required to fulfill certain eligibility criteria related to that scheme.
