At present, the power industry is facing various challenges due to the increasing energy use in the country. The power sector is exploring the possible alternatives of solar energy and other renewable energy sources to address these challenges. In this direction, the National Solar Rooftop Scheme has been started by the Government of India with the goal of becoming free from energy by the year 2047, through which solar energy systems will be encouraged in the country. - Along with this, the National Portal for Rooftop Solar has also been launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for this program, through which citizens will be able to track the installation process of rooftop solar plants sitting at home through online medium.
- Citizens will be able to track the process of installation of rooftop solar plants from registering the applications to release of subsidy in the bank account of residential consumers i.e. beneficiaries, post installation and inspection of the plants.

- The central government has set a target of reaching 1 million MW of solar power by the financial year, out of which 40,000 MW will be generated from rooftop solar power plants.

- After that you have to click on the option of “Next”. Now you will be asked to install an application called SANDES App QR Code on your mobile device to complete the registration process.
- You have to install this application on your device. After this you have to enter your mobile number details. Now an OTP will be sent to you on your mobile number through the SANDES app in bar format.
- Thereafter you will receive an account activation link on the email-id provided by you after successful verification of your mobile number.
- This activation link will also include the details of the simplified process. Now you have to click on the option of activation link received in the email.
- After this your account will be activated and you will be redirected to the National Solar Rooftop Portal to submit the application.
