Objectives of Suryashakti Kisan Yojana
The main objective of Suryashakti Kisan Yojana 2024 launched by the Gujarat State Government is to provide electricity to the farmers of the state for irrigation of their fields. Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided to the farmers for installing solar panels in their fields. Beneficiary farmers will be able to generate their own electricity for irrigation through these solar panels and they can also sell the remaining electricity to the government with the help of the grid. Benefits and Features of Suryashakti Kisan Yojana 2024
- Suryashakti Kisan Yojana has been started by the State Government of Gujarat, under which the farmers of the state will be able to generate their own electricity by installing solar panels in their fields.
- Beneficiary farmers will be able to irrigate their fields easily with the help of electricity generated in their fields.
- The farmers of the state can also sell the remaining electricity to the government through the grid, from which they can get additional income.
- To install solar panels in their fields, farmers will be provided a subsidy of 60% of the cost of the project jointly by the state and central government.
- Along with this, 30% of the project cost will be provided to the farmer through a loan with interest rate of 4.5% to 6%.
- The farmer himself will have to bear the remaining 5% of the project cost.
- The total duration of this scheme of the state government will be of 25 years which is divided between the period of 7 years and 18 years.
- Under this scheme, a unit rate of Rs 7 will be provided to the farmers for the first 7 years and Rs 3.5 for each unit for the remaining 18 years.
- Through this scheme of the state government, about 12400 farmers of a total 33 districts of the state will be benefitted.
- Along with this, supply of electricity for 12 hours a day will also be ensured with the help of this scheme.
- With the introduction of this scheme of the Gujarat government, there will be a huge reduction in the electricity bill.
