Affordable Rental Housing Scheme

The ARHC scheme launched by the Central Government is a sub-scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, through which the government will provide rental housing to the poor and urban migrants of the country near their workplace. The scheme is being monitored and operated by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This scheme will be implemented by the central government by dividing it into two models. In the first model, the central government will use the existing government-funded vacant houses and in the second model the work of construction, operation and maintenance of the houses will be done by public or private institutions on their available vacant land. Objectives of Affordable Rental Housing Scheme (ARHC)

ARHC Scheme has been started by the Government of India, whose main objective is to provide affordable rental houses to the poor and urban migrant citizens of the country. Through this scheme, necessary civic facilities and a positive environment will be provided to the poor and economically weaker citizens of the country. Implementation of Affordable Rental Housing Scheme 2024

The ARHC scheme launched by the central government will be funded by a fund created in the National Housing Bank. A balance of about Rs 10000 crore has been made available in this fund, through which financial assistance will be provided to housing finance companies. Individual housing loans will be taken by these finance companies, with the help of which they will provide housing facilities in specific rural and urban areas of the country. Affordable Rental Housing Scheme (ARHC) is a centrally sponsored scheme, hence the allocation of affordable housing funds is done by the Reserve Bank of India.

Benefits and Features of Affordable Rental Housing Scheme 2024

  • Under the ARHC scheme of the Central Government, houses will be provided to the poor and migrant citizens of the country in urban areas at affordable rates near their work areas, which will save their transportation expenses.
  • Through this scheme, the beneficiary citizens will be provided exemption in income tax and GST.
  • In the initial phase, the target has been set to cover about 3 lakh beneficiaries under this scheme by the central government.
  • Under the Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHC) Scheme, technology innovation grants will also be given to promote new technologies.
  • The central government will provide housing to the beneficiaries by converting the funded houses in the cities into Affordable Rental Housing Scheme under PPP mode.
  • Under this scheme, the premises will be made habitable by providing basic infrastructure like:- repair or retrofit and maintenance of concessionaire rooms and facilities like water, sewer or septage, sanitation, roads etc.
  • Under this scheme of Government of India, trunk infrastructure facility and municipal fee will be equal to residential property.

Eligibility Criteria of Affordable Rental Housing Scheme (ARHC)

  • To get the benefits under the Affordable Rental Housing Scheme 2024 launched by the Central Government, priority will be given to such citizens of the country who belong to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Widows and Working Women, Divyang, Minorities.
  • Along with this, it will be mandatory for the beneficiary citizen to belong to the EWS or LIG category as per the provision by the government. 
  • Street vendors, rickshaw pullers and other service providers, industrial workers as well as migrants working with markets or trade unions, educational or health institutions, long-term tourists or visitors to the hospitality sector and students are also covered under this scheme.

  • On this new page, you will have to enter the details of all the required information asked, such as- Name of the enterprises/business, type of organization/business, registered address, postal code, name of the owner/applicant printed on the Aadhar card, mobile number, email id, captcha code, etc.
  • Now you have to click on the submit option, after which you can register yourself.

Process to Login to the Portal

  • First of all you have to go to the official website of the Affordable Rental Housing Scheme. Now the home page of the website will open in front of you.
  • On the homepage of the website, you have to click on the login option. Now a new page will open in front of you.
