The formal execution of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme in the state has been announced by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti. The end-to-end digital e-service for this scheme in the state has been inaugurated by Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, the service was launched by the National Informatics Center as a single platform for application submission and tracking . Objectives of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme 2024
The main objective of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme is to reverse the decreasing trend of females in comparison to males in the population, as the ratio of males to females in the population is falling dramatically in recent years. Through this scheme, it is confirmed that the girl does not become a financial burden on her parents or guardians after getting married. Benefits and Features of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme
- To get the benefits of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme 2024, it is necessary to start a recurring deposit account by the natural or legal guardian of the girl child.
- 168,000 rupees will be contributed by the state government through this scheme, under this 1000/month for 14 years. UT Rs. will be provided by Govt. from birth/opening of account to women.
- Through this, only Rs 1000/month will be contributed by the Jammu and Kashmir government in the first phase.
- Under this Phase I “Recurring Deposit Account” matures into Phase II “Cumulative Fixed Deposit Account”, further that no partial draw or foreclosure is involved at any stage.
- In addition, the maturity benefit will be provided to the recipient at the age of 21 years under the system, 21 years after the first payment, or 85 months after the last installment, whichever is later.
- Funds can be reinvested in any bank’s card-rate deposit scheme by all eligible girl children of this scheme, enrollment is not allowed under J&K Ladli Beti Scheme.
- On the contrary, if the eligible girl child dies due to any reason, then in this situation the account of that girl child will be closed immediately.
- The remaining amount along with interest will be returned to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, on the contrary, the girl child who dies before the age of 21 years, in this case, her account will be credited to the Recurring Deposit Account / Fixed Deposit Account without prior Payment will be stopped before maturity of the fee.
- Apart from this, those girls who move to another city or town, and the account is in their name, then even in this situation the account cannot be transferred.
- Under this, the beneficiary / parent or guardian has to submit the ‘Life Certificate of the beneficiary (female child)’ certified by the Gazetted Officer or the Principal of the school / college, this certificate every three years and on maturity is enrolled.
- This scheme has been launched by the government for low-income families, therefore TDS is not deducted under it as long as the guardian/beneficiary submits Form 15G/15H annually and has a valid PAN.
Eligibility of J&K Ladli Beti Scheme
- It is mandatory for the citizens who want to get the benefit of this scheme to be a native of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Those girls of the state who are born on or after April 1, 2015, those women will be given the benefit of this scheme. On the contrary, those women who were born before the deadline, none of the girls can establish an account under this scheme.
