Benefits of MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme

  • MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme is primarily focused on boosting manufacturing competitiveness within the MSME sector.
  • This scheme aims at supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the implementation of Lean principles and practices.
  • MSMEs will adopt LEAN manufacturing technologies such as 5S, Kaizen, KANBAN, visual workplace, and Poka Yoka under the guidance of trained LEAN consultants to reach different LEAN levels-basic, intermediate, and advanced.
  • It’s a comprehensive initiative to teach, inspire, and incentivize MSMEs to embrace LEAN manufacturing techniques and become leaders in this field.
  • Lean manufacturing within LMCS is about waste reduction and smoother processes. It employs TPM, 5S, Visual Control, and other methods.
  • MSMEs within SFURTI clusters, those owned by women, SC, or ST, and situated in NER, will receive an extra 5% contribution from the government.
  • Upon completing all levels, MSMEs joining through Industry Associations or OEM groups get an extra 5% contribution.
  • MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme 2024 goes beyond its objectives of improving quality, productivity, and performance including inspiring a change in how manufacturers think.

Approach of the MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme

The MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme approach typically begins with an assessment of the current state of MSMEs, identifying areas where improvements in quality, productivity, and performance are needed. MSMEs receive guidance from experts or LEAN consultants who help them implement LEAN techniques tailored to their specific needs and challenges. MSMEs are expected to fund the Scheme themselves from the second year, having seen the advantages and cost reductions from lean approaches. The implementation structure comprises three tiers: local MSME groups (SPV), a top-tier Lean Manufacturing Screening and Steering Committee (SSC) under DC(MSME), and an intermediate National Monitoring and Implementing Unit (NMIU) to facilitate implementation and oversight.

Assistance of MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme

The Indian government supports each Mini Cluster by funding 80% of the consultant expenses, while the MSME units that receive the support are expected to contribute the remaining 20%.

MSME Competitive LEAN Scheme 2024 Application Procedure

If you represent an industry association or a group of approximately 10 MSME units that meet the MSME Development Act, 2006 requirements and wish to create SPVs (Mini Clusters), you can send your applications in the prescribed format to the National Productivity Council (NPC) at Utpadakta Bhawan, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003.
