The voter list for the upcoming assembly elections has been released by the Election Commission of India. For Tamil Nadu, the total number of voters in the state is 6.26 crore. Of these 6.26 crore voters, 3.18 crore are female voters and 3.08 crore are male voters and 7200 are voters. There are 234 Legislative Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. The current term of the government expires on 2 May 2021, so elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in the month of May.   • The Shozinganallur assembly constituency in Chengalpattu district has the highest number of voters and the lowest number of voters are in the port assembly constituency in Chennai.   • There are around 8,97,694 voters in the 18,19 age group across the state and Chennai has the highest number of such voters. There are 49,148 voters who are in the age group of 18 to 19 in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu, the voter list has undergone a one-month revision and so far, about 20 lakh applications have been received for inclusion of names in the voter list. Major parties in Tamil Nadu are trying to include the names of all the first-time voters. All citizens of age on or before 1 January 2021 are eligible to vote. All attempts have been made to include, remove, correct and move names in the voter list. More than 50000 applications have been received for the inclusion of names in the voter list in 17 of the 37 districts of the state. The final voter list will be published on 20 January 2021. About 30.68 lakh applications have been received so far in the special campaign, which was held on November 21, 2020, November 22, 2020, December 12, 2020, and December 13, 2020. The maximum number of applications received is 1.47 lakhs from Chennai. Thiruvallur 1.28 Lakh, Coimbatore 1.22 Lakh, Chengalpet 1.03 Lakh, and Salem 96479.
