Kanyashree Prakalpa has been started by the Department of Women Development and Social Welfare, West Bengal, under which financial assistance is provided to the girls of the state for taking education. Benefits and Features of WB Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme
- WB Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme has been started by the Government of West Bengal, through which the girls of the state are benefitted.
- Under this scheme of the state government, financial assistance is provided to the girls of West Bengal by encouraging them to get higher education and marry late.
- With the help of financial assistance through this scheme, financially weak families will be able to continue their daughter’s education, so that their daughter will become self-reliant and empowered.
- Along with this, with the help of this scheme, poor parents will be encouraged not to marry their girls early.
- Under this scheme of the State Government of West Bengal, child marriages in the state will be controlled and girls will be encouraged to take education till the age of at least 18 years.
- Through this scheme, every year an amount of Rs 750 will be provided to the beneficiary girls as financial assistance.
- The financial assistance provided under West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa is made available to the girls of the state studying from class 8th to 12th or from the age of 13 to 18 years.
- Under this scheme, a lump sum grant of Rs 25,000 is also provided to the beneficiary girls on the completion of 18 years.

Eligibility Criteria of WB Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme
- To get the benefits under Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme, the applicant girl should be a permanent resident of West Bengal state.
- Along with this, the age of the applicant girl must be between 13 years to 18 years.
- Applicant girl students will be required to be enrolled in class 8 to class 12 or equivalent.
- The annual family income of the applicant student should be less than Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand.
- Under this scheme girls with special needs, orphans and girls living in JJ homes have been exempted from income criterion.
- Along with this, girls with special needs will also be considered eligible for this scheme in the event of getting education below class VIII.
- The financial assistance available under this scheme is also valid for various vocational, technical and sports courses.

West Bengal Kanyashree Prakalpa Apply Online
Kanyashree Prakalpa Scheme was started by the Government of West Bengal in the year 2013, under this scheme Rs 7,588.90 crore has been given by the government till 2017.
