West Bengal Marriage Registration Act

The West Bengal Marriage Registration Portal has been launched by the Government of West Bengal with the aim of creating more value for this relationship. Under the West Bengal Marriage Registration Act, couples can apply for registration under Hindu Marriage Act 1955, Special Marriage Act 1954, Indian Kristen Marriage Act 1872 and Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act 1936. The Hindu Marriage Act applies to all the people of the state who, according to Hinduism, any form or event including Virashaiva, a Lingayat or Brahmin, a follower or follower of Arya Samaj, Buddhist, Jain or Sikh. About WB Marriage Registration

Marriage is such a sacred bond in which every person has to be tied one day or the other. This bonding is not only accomplished by taking seven rounds around the fire, but there is another method which is very important to fulfill. Yes, apart from being a husband and wife in the eyes of society, it is very important to be a husband and wife in the eyes of the law. It is known that for the society, being husband and wife means wearing Mangalsutra and taking seven rounds or completing the methods according to your religion. But in the eyes of the law, two people are not proved husband and wife until they produce their West Bengal Marriage Registration. Eligibility Criteria

  • The bride and groom should be over 18 or 21 years of age respectively.
  • Both bride and groom are not in forbidden relationships
  • Any one of them is a relative of each other.

Application Procedure under West Bengal Marriage Registration

If you want to register for West Bengal Marriage, then you have to follow the steps given below and can apply in online mode: –

First step

  • First of all, you have to visit the official website of the Law Department Register General of Marriage of West Bengal. After this, the home page of the website will open in front of you.

  • On the home page of the website, you have to click on the option to “Register Your Marriage“. After this, a new page will open in front of you.
  • On this page, you have “Click here to Apply Online“. After that, you will have to read the instructions and click submit, then the registration form will open in front of you.

  • After that, you have to select the Act under which you want to apply for registration.
  • Now, you will have to upload all the documents by entering the details of the husband’s information like name, father’s name, date of birth, registration, email, phone number, religion, nationality, Aadhaar number, etc.
  • In the second part of the form, you will have to upload the information of the wife such as name, father’s name, date of birth, registration, email, phone number, religion, nationality, Aadhaar number, etc, and all the documents.

Second step

  • After this one will have to go to the third part of the extension in the form of social wedding such as place of social marriage, date of social marriage and wedding invitation card.

  • On the home page of the website, you have to click on the option of “Objection”. After this, the application form will open in front of you.

Objection Reasons

  • The applicant has been subjected to frequency attacks of insanity or epilepsy
  • When the applicant is not able to give a valid consent on this as a result of ill health
  • One of the applicants already has a spouse at the time of marriage
  • When the man is twenty-one years old and the woman has not completed the age of eighteen
  • Applicants are within the prohibited relationship degree
  • The bride or groom suffers from such mental disorder as ineligibility for marriage and purchase of children
  • Where the marriage has been annulled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, both the applicants are citizens of India who come under the purview of this Act.
